What it does
Ontinue's ION is a Microsoft-focused managed extended detection and response (MXDR) service. Its press release says autonomous investigations powered by agentic AI have been live in production for every customer since December 2024. When an incident is escalated to the Ontinue Cyber Defense Center, 'a team of AI agents automatically aggregates telemetry, forms and tests hypotheses, and conducts a full investigation', work Ontinue says would typically need a Tier 2/3 analyst. The result is a detailed summary with step-by-step logic that is passed to a human Cyber Defender. Ontinue says this cut mean time to investigate by up to 50% and that it resolves 99.5% of incidents without customer involvement (vendor claims). The ION IQ layer learns each customer's environment, people and operations using Ontinue's own models plus Azure OpenAI, and Ontinue says customer data never flows into third-party models. This is a managed service: the AI agents investigate and Ontinue's analysts decide and respond. Add-ons cover enhanced phishing protection and vulnerability mitigation. Pricing is not published.
