What it does
Per Atlassian's support documentation, Request Resolver (renamed from Rovo Service) is enabled per request type in a Jira Service Management space with an execution mode of supervised, autonomous or off. It reads the work item (fields, comments, forms, attachments and screenshots), linked internal knowledge such as runbooks, resolved work and, if granted, Assets (for example to check which device belongs to the requester). It writes a resolution plan citing the runbooks it used and then carries it out: updating fields, transitioning work items, asking the requester or approvers for information, and executing actions in configured third-party tools such as Okta and IdentityNow. In supervised mode an agent reviews and can refine the plan in chat before assigning Request Resolver; in autonomous mode it assigns itself and resolves the request without human involvement within its permissions and tool scopes. Whatever the mode, it pauses for a human on irreversible actions (deleting files, closing work items, sending external emails) or low-confidence steps, and it can be stopped at any time. Autonomous mode is not available for onboarding request types and is not designed for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on individuals. Atlassian notes it is not HIPAA compliant. It is a premium AI feature that consumes Rovo credits. At Team '26 Europe (Oct 7, 2026) Atlassian also announced AI change-risk assessment (GA) plus Proactive Service Management and in-Slack/Teams service agents (closed EAP, not covered here).
